Remember What YOU Love Most To Experience During The Upcoming Season
When you think about the upcoming holiday season, what senses get triggered? Hearing, taste, sight, touch, and smell are on high alert in the coming final eight weeks of the year. What do you love most about the final two months of the year? Do you think of large family dinners? The vibrant colors, beautiful music, the warmth of a soft blanket? Are you aware of these senses or do they fall into the background from all the 'to and fro' of your to-do lists?
I Forgot To Celebrate The Season
This used to happen to me every year. I would be so busy working, going to parties, spending my coins, that I wouldn't take the time to do what I loved to experience during the holiday season like baking cookies, calmly and joyfully wrapping presents, putting up holiday directions, listening to my favorite holiday music, lighting candles, and in general, just experiencing and observing all the lights and community get-togethers taking place. I would typically allow myself to just go along with the "oh my gosh, I'm just sooooo busy right now, I'll start paying more attention to my coins and experiencing the season for myself tomorrow." This was always a shallow promise to myself because the next day would come with new distractions and suddenly that empty commitment was remembered on December 26 when there was nothing to do, no more parties to go to, and the immediate emptiness of distractions and "busyness" led me to a deeper introspection. The feeling of sadness that once again, another season of magic was lost to things and experiences of little depth to me. Not to mention an unplanned loss of coins in my Mint.
Start Setting Your Intention For The Final Two Months Today
If your desire each year around this time is to not forget to celebrate the season and then suddenly it's December 26, take a few moments today and start planning how YOU are going to enjoy and be these final two months of year. It could be something as simple as remembering to order a peppermint mocha latte, or lighting those pine-scented candles you bought last year at the after Christmas sale. Maybe you love to create during the holidays. Start thinking about what you can make for friends and family. Maybe you want to send out holiday cards this year that will be beautiful and be meaningful for your friends and family to receive. Or maybe, you want to spend more time helping others either through volunteer work or just spending time with people who have family and friends in far away places right now.
Make Your List
Start making a list, just as you made your gift wish list when you were a child for Santa, make it for the things and experiences you want to give and receive this year for yourself. The more you can keep this list front and center, the more likely it will manifest for you in the coming months. This is also an important way to keep your coins and Mint intact in the coming months!
